Restylane® is a long-lasting, crystal-clear
gel for
filling out lips, facial wrinkles and facial folds.
The
hyaluronic acid in Restylane® is almost identical
to
that naturally found in the body. The product
is
naturally integrated into human tissue, allowing
nutritive agents and cells to pass freely through
the
gel implant.
Restylane® contains hyaluronic acid in the form
of
a crystal-clear gel injected into the skin to
lift the
lip, wrinkle or fold. |

Once in the skin, Restylane®
works together with the body's own hyaluronic acid and
joins forces to create volume. Unlike permanent
soft tissue implants,
Restylane always leaves you a choice when the effect
of the treatment has worn
off.
Restylane® is available in three forms:
- Perlane is the most
concentrated formula and is used for deep line, and
lip augmentation. Facial contours like the cheeks, chin, and hollowness
under the eyes can all be improved with this product.
- Restylane®, a little less
dense, is used for facial wrinkles around the
mouth, forehead or eyes. It can also be used to help define or increase
lip size.
- Restylane® Fine
Lines is used for the smaller lines like those seen
on the upper lip or around the crow's feet area. This finer material is
useful for getting in to smaller usually more difficult areas to treat.
Restylane® is injected into the dermis and provides volume
where the
concentration of the body's own hyaluronic acid has decreased. One treatment
session takes about 30 minutes. The results can be seen immediately and no
scars or other marks are left on the face. Even though the treated area can swell
up somewhat and be red for up to one day afterwards, it is quite possible to
meet other people and work as normal.
Restylane® is not extracted from animals. This means no risk of allergic
reactions. Therefore, Restylane is perfectly safe to use instantly without
pre-testing.
How long the effect of Restylane® treatment lasts depends is very individual. It
depends on many factors, such as the structure of the skin, lifestyle and age as
well as on the degree of perfection demanded by the individual. However, we
know that for the majority of the patients treated about 50-80 % of the effect
remains after 6 months. Most people choose to have a touch-up done within a
year of the original treatment.
